As an awesome preschool teacher, you might already be reading daily to your students. So how would having an author visit be any different?

Our author visits are designed to complement your efforts in the preschool classroom and help your students learn through stories. In addition to dramatised readings by the authors your students will also:

  • Enjoy activities such as games and live drawings
Why this matters: Students are more likely to talk about the stories with their friends after an exciting session. The sharing brings a book to life, encourages synthesis and helps the students see that stories are more than just words on a page.
  • Get to ask the author/illustrator questions
Why this matters: This interaction sparks curiosity and could inspire the students to create their own stories.

Each session is planned for 30 minutes but we are most happy to adjust the format of the sessions to fit your learning environment. Please click on the pretty pictures for the details of the various visits available. And if you can't decide, send us an email and we will tailor a session just for you.

Ways of Seeing

Recommended for     P4 - P6   |   Duration     40 min

Online talk on writing from multiple perspectives.

How do different perspectives impact a story? Author H.S. Norup will share how she developed The Missing Barbegazi in two voices – that of 11-year-old Tessa and 154-year-old Gawion, a fantastical creature called a barbegazi. Your students will also get the chance to see things and describe ordinary objects from a barbegazi’s point of view.

This session will take place digitally and we will work with the speaker and the school to ensure that the technology set up is in place for a fruitful session.
