Author & Illustrator Visits

An author visit is a great opportunity to get your students excited about reading and writing!

We offer a variety of sessions that will appeal to preschool and primary-level students. These sessions range from interactive talks that focus on appreciating heritage to hands-on workshops that aim to help your students develop, organise and express their ideas. The presentations will be led by amazing authors and illustrators from Singapore and the region.

Why host an author visit with Closetful of Books?

Encourage close and critical reading

by getting your students excited about stories. There are few things that can create a buzz around a book as effectively as meeting, in real-life, the very person who created it.

Nurture creative inquiry

by giving your students the opportunity to prepare and ask authors and illustrators good questions. The interaction with actual creators sparks curiosity and can inspire students to create stories of their own.

Guide discovery

by exposing your students to a wide range of multimodal and hybrid texts. Stories are more than just words on a page. A visit with an author or illustrator will give students an opportunity to experience different forms of storytelling.

How it works

With your aims for the visit in mind, have a browse of the programmes available in this fancy menu and select a session.

Give us a call or send us an email and we will have a short chat to better understand your needs and your students. Then, we will work with the chosen author or illustrator to schedule the session and make requested changes, where possible.

We will coordinate book sales and autograph sessions, if you like, and are more than happy to recommend books and post-event activities that would build on lessons from the author visit.

Let's begin! Select a programme from our menu.

We are on the way to peruse a menu of authors.

Or get in touch and we will make a recommendation for a visit that will excite your students!
