Singapore Writers Festival - The Write Weekend

If your kid has notebooks of stories or ideas in any shape or form, The Write Weekend is a great place for them to level-up. They’ll learn from artists who will share practical insights, guide them in exciting creative exercises and more. Simply select their preferred genre or format -- short stories, performance poetry, comics or podcasts -- and save the dates for the workshops!

Rhythm and Poetry with Karl Nova
31 Oct, 2pm to 3.30pm + 1 Nov, 2pm to 3.30pm

If you can’t see why your kid should get interested in poetry, let Karl Nova, one of the UK’s leading poets who used to find poetry boring, change your mind. Through interactive exercises, Karl will show your kid how poetry can uplift and inform and guide them through writing their very own performance piece.
What your kid will learn: How to give voice and sound to poetry. To write and perform poetry. That poetry is for everyone.

With New York Times bestselling cartoonist Gavin Aung Than as their guide, your kids will draw characters and craft origin stories for their very own superhero. They’ll also build worlds and lay out panels where their superhero can take action in this interactive workshop.
What your kid will learn: brainstorming ideas, character creation, world-building, how to layout and edit comic panels
