The festival Diwali is a fun, exciting time for Indian families all over the world, the ‘Amma, tell me about Diwali’ book is a great way of teaching children about the meaning behind the celebration and its rituals.

Although are numerous stories about the festival of Diwali, this book attributes the origins of Diwali to the legend of Lord Rama’s victory over the demon king Ravana his return home after 14 years in exile. In addition to this, the book tells a story about Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, love, prosperity, fortune and beauty.

In addition to providing origin stories, ‘Amma, tell me about Diwali’ also explains to children several of the festival traditions and their meanings. In particular, the book explores the role of lights and candles in symbolising the victory of light over darkness, and good over evil.
